Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Chill the dough in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into shapes.
  8. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes or until edges are barely golden.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough is crucial to prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
