Dunkin’ Donuts Glazed Donuts Recipe (Copycat)

A delightful recipe for making soft and fluffy glazed donuts inspired by Dunkin’ Donuts, perfect for any sweet occasion.

  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (between 100°F to 110°F)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick (½ cup) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 eggs + 2 egg yolks
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanillin (vanilla sugar)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and the yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the bubbly yeast mixture with melted butter, warm milk, and remaining sugar, adding the eggs as well until well combined.
  3. Add the flour and salt by sifting them into the wet mixture, combining until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough by rolling it out and using a donut cutter to cut out donuts and centers, placing them on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Second rise for 30 minutes until donuts puff up.
  8. Fry in hot oil (350°F) for 1-2 minutes on each side or bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, water, and vanillin.
  10. Glazing – dip the tops of cooled donuts into the glaze, letting excess drip off.
  11. Dig in and enjoy!

Notes

For a fun presentation, stack donuts on a colorful plate and serve with coffee or milk. Can be made vegan by substituting specific ingredients.
