French Onion Ramen Gratin

A cozy twist on the classic French onion soup, this dish combines the creamy richness of Gruyère cheese with the hearty goodness of ramen.

  • 2 packs of Ramen (fresh or dried)
  • 2 large Caramelized Onions
  • 1 cup Gruyère Cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (unsalted)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme (dried or fresh)
  • 3 cups Beef Broth
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions: Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add butter and olive oil. Add sliced onions and cook for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Build the Flavor Base: Add thyme, salt, and pepper to the caramelized onions and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the Broth: Pour in beef broth and soy sauce, simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Cook the Ramen: Cook ramen according to package instructions, drain, and toss with broth mixture.
  5. Assemble the Gratin: Preheat broiler, transfer ramen and onion mix to an oven-safe dish, and top with shredded Gruyère cheese.
  6. Broil to Perfection: Broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

Serve with extra thyme or fresh herbs, and pair with crusty bread or a simple green salad.
