Beef Stroganoff Tater Bake

A delightful mashup of traditional beef stroganoff and crispy tater tots, creating a warm and satisfying meal.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then transfer to a platter.
  2. Sauté the onion and mushrooms in the same skillet until softened, around 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for about a minute. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and reduce heat. Add the sour cream gradually while stirring.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and mix well, simmering for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the beef mixture in a baking dish and layer with tater tots. Top with cheese if using.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
