Creamy Onion Pasta

A cozy and comforting pasta dish featuring caramelized onions, garlic, and creamy goodness.

Ingredients

  • Pasta (any type, about 12 ounces)
  • Onions (2 medium, finely sliced)
  • Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic (3-4 cloves, minced)
  • Heavy cream (1 cup)
  • Parmesan cheese (½ cup, grated)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, reserving a cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté the Onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt, sautéing until golden brown (about 15-20 minutes).
  3. Add the Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the Cream: Lower the heat and add heavy cream, stirring to combine with onions and garlic. Let it simmer gently for about 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  5. Add Parmesan: Stir in grated Parmesan until melted, adjusting seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Combine with Pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water until desired consistency is achieved.
  7. Serve and Garnish: Plate the pasta, topping it with additional cheese and parsley.
