Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches

Hearty and delicious crockpot French dip sandwiches made with tender beef in savory broth, served with crusty rolls and au jus for dipping.

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 can beef broth (about 15 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • French rolls or baguettes
  • Sliced provolone cheese (optional)
  • Au jus for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep the beef by trimming excess fat and seasoning generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Brown the meat (optional) in a hot skillet with a little oil until browned on all sides.
  3. Combine ingredients by placing the browned beef in the crockpot and adding onion soup mix, beef broth, soy sauce, and garlic on top.
  4. Set your slow cooker on low for 8 hours or high for about 4 hours.
  5. Shred the beef once done using two forks and save the juices for au jus.
  6. Prepare the sandwiches by toasting rolls and adding provolone cheese if desired.
  7. Assemble the sandwiches with shredded beef and ladle the beef broth over for moisture. Serve with au jus.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, browning the beef is optional. Customize with additional spices or ingredients for a personal twist.
