Easy Chicken Momo Dumplings (Sajilo Kukhura ko Momo)

Delightful dumplings filled with juicy chicken, aromatic spices, and vibrant veggies, steamed to perfection.

  • 400 grams Plain Flour
  • 200 ml Warm Water
  • 400 grams Chicken Mince
  • 300 grams White Onions (Finely chopped or grated)
  • 10 Stalks Fresh Coriander (Finely chopped)
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger Paste
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornflour
  • 6 Tablespoons Cold Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 2 Green Chilies (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Flour: In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
  2. Add Warm Water: Slowly pour the warm water into the well and start mixing the flour inward.
  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Rest the Dough: Wrap the dough in a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes.
  5. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the chicken mince, finely chopped onions, ginger paste, chopped coriander, black pepper, and salt.
  6. Bind It Together: In a separate bowl, mix the cornflour with the cold water until smooth. Add this slurry into the chicken mixture along with the soy sauce and vegetable oil.
  7. Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls and roll each ball on a floured surface into thin circles.
  8. Fill the Dough: Place a tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle.
  9. Seal the Dumplings: Fold the dough over the filling to create a semi-circle and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
  10. Prepare the Steamer: Line your steamer basket with parchment paper.
  11. Steam It Up: Place the momos in the steamer, cover and steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes.
  12. Serve and Savor: Carefully remove the momos from the steamer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

These momos freeze well; shape them and place on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag for quick meals later.
