How to Freeze Strawberries

A comprehensive guide on how to freeze strawberries to preserve their summer sweetness for year-round enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of fresh strawberries (1 kg)

Instructions

  1. Wash and Prepare the Strawberries: Rinse the strawberries under cool, running water and pat them dry.
  2. Hull the Strawberries: Remove the leafy green tops and the white core using a paring knife or a strawberry huller.
  3. Decide if you want to freeze your strawberries whole or sliced: Remember, whole strawberries take longer to freeze!
  4. Arrange for Freezing: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, arrange strawberries in a single layer, making sure they’re not touching.
  5. Pop that baking sheet into the freezer for about 120-180 minutes for flash freezing.
  6. Transfer the fully frozen strawberries into an airtight freezer bag or container, labeling it with the date.

Notes

Frozen strawberries can last in the freezer for about 8-12 months. For added flavor, consider sprinkling sugar or honey before freezing.
