  • 1 apple, diced (Fuji or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.
  3. Incorporate the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Toss in the diced apple pieces and gently fold them into the mixture.
  5. Mix in about 1/2 cup of cold milk until just combined.
  6. Shape the dough into a 1-inch thick circle on a floured surface.
  7. Cut the circle into wedges or use a round cutter for classic shapes.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
