Buffalo Butter Chicken Orzo

A comforting and creamy Buffalo Butter Chicken Orzo dish that combines the flavors of Buffalo wings with buttery chicken and tender orzo.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Orzo Pasta
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 cups Cooked Chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Green Onions, chopped
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar and mozzarella blend)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Orzo: Start with a large pot of salted boiling water. Add your orzo and cook according to the package directions, usually about 8-10 minutes until al dente.
  2. Prepare the Chicken: While the orzo is cooking, shred your cooked chicken in a separate bowl.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the shredded chicken and pour in about ½ cup of Buffalo sauce.
  4. Combine with Chicken Broth: Add in 1 cup of chicken broth and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes to meld the flavors together.
  5. Creamy Touch: Turn down the heat to low, and add in the cream cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Add the Orzo: Once your orzo is cooked and drained, transfer it to the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Toss everything together.
  7. Final Flourish: Stir in the shredded cheese until it melts beautifully into the dish.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Finish with chopped green onions for a touch of brightness.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes. For vegan options, substitute chicken with chickpeas and use plant-based butter and cream cheese.
