Cuban Sandwich Casserole

A comforting casserole that combines the savory magic of a classic Cuban sandwich, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of ham, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups pulled pork
  • 1 cup dill pickles, sliced
  • 2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • 1 loaf of Cuban bread, cut into cubes
  • 4 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a large casserole dish (9×13 inches) by greasing it with cooking spray.
  3. Layer half of the bread cubes in the dish.
  4. Add half of the ham and then a scoop of pulled pork on top.
  5. Spread pickle slices over the pork.
  6. Sprinkle half of the Swiss cheese over the pickles.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, ham, pulled pork, pickles, and Swiss cheese.
  8. Whisk together the eggs and mustard in a separate bowl.
  9. Pour the egg mixture over the casserole evenly.
  10. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  11. Cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated. Use different breads or add jalapeños for a spicy version.
