Slow Cooker Lasagna

A comforting and hearty slow cooker lasagna layered with rich cheeses and savory marinara, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Lasagna Noodles
  • Ricotta Cheese
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Ground Beef (or Sausage)
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Prep the Slow Cooker: Start by lightly greasing the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or a drizzle of olive oil.
  2. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown your ground beef (or sausage) until fully cooked.
  3. Add Flavor to the Sauce: Once the meat is browned, add minced garlic and chopped onions to the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Start Layering: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  5. Add Cheese Filling: Spoon dollops of ricotta cheese over the noodles and sprinkle half of the mozzarella and a dusting of Parmesan cheese.
  6. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of sauce topped with remaining cheeses.
  7. Cook: Secure the lid on your slow cooker and set to low heat for 4-6 hours.
  8. Check for Doneness: About a half-hour before serving, check that the noodles are tender and the cheese is melted.
  9. Let It Sit: Once done, allow the lasagna to rest for about 15-20 minutes with the lid on.
  10. Serve and Enjoy: Scoop generous portions onto plates, and savor that first bite!

Notes

For variations, try adding vegetables, using pesto instead of marinara, or substituting with gluten-free noodles.
