Firecracker Burrata Pasta

A cozy and comforting pasta dish with a spicy kick and creamy burrata, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Pasta (tagliatelle or spaghetti)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (extra virgin)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 12 teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 28 ounces Canned Crushed Tomatoes
  • 8 ounces Burrata Cheese
  • Fresh Basil (for garnish)
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about a cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the Tomatoes: Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes. Stir together, bring to a simmer, and cook for about 10 minutes.
  4. Combine Pasta with Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the tomato sauce. Mix together, adding reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Top with Burrata: Gently tear the burrata into chunks and distribute it over the pasta. Turn off the heat and let the residual warmth soften the burrata.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Plate your pasta, top with chopped basil, a drizzle of olive oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For added flair, consider pairing with garlic bread or a classic Caesar salad. A chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc complements the dish well.
