Ultimate Cheesy Ground Beef Melt

A delightfully cheesy and hearty experience, combining ground beef, melty cheese, and warm, crispy bread into one unforgettable sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Pickles, mustard, or ketchup

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions by melting 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sprinkle a little salt. Sauté until translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  2. Brown the ground beef by increasing the heat to medium-high and adding it to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes, draining excess fat if needed.
  3. Season the mixture with salt and pepper once the beef is browned. Stir well to incorporate.
  4. Add the cheese by reducing the heat to low, sprinkling it evenly over the beef mixture, and covering the skillet to melt it, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Toast the bread by spreading the remaining butter on one side of each slice and toasting in a skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Assemble your melts by placing a scoop of cheesy beef mixture on the unbuttered side of two slices of toasted bread and topping with pickles or condiments.
  7. Finish the sandwich by topping with the other slices of bread, buttered side out, and grilling both sides until crispy and the cheese is oozing, about 2-3 minutes. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

For a spicy twist, add jalapeños or a fried egg on top for a breakfast option. You can prepare the beef mixture ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 2 days.
